Objective: The article explores the reading-relating apps available for smart speakers in the Amazon Skills store, their characteristics, and their potential as resources for promoting reading.
Methodology: Eleven parameters of 30 skills were studied using the information provided by the store and the direct analysis of each one: category, type of content, update, use of the product, privacy, and user comments, etc.
Result: The conclusion is that this emerging product has potential for promoting readership provided that: it applies certain specific criteria; the contents on offer are varied and high quality; full product information is available in the store, and contents are frequently updated. These features are habitually expected by users, but few reading-related skills are available as yet.
