The journal
BiD: textos universitaris de biblioteconomia i documentació is a specialist open access journal which publishes articles in the field of information and documentation.
Publication
After issue 30, BiD: textos universitaris de biblioteconomia i documentació is published by the Faculty of Library and Information Sciences of the University of Barcelona and by the Studies of Information and Communication Sciences of the Catalonia Open University. Previously, the Faculty of Library and Information Science published the journal Biblioteconomia, from 1944 to 1976.
Editorial policy
BiD operates an external peer review system, in which contributions are evaluated , first by BiD’s in-house science editors and then externally by experts in the field, by anonymous peer review.
Papers published by BiD present results of original researches. BiD does not accept articles or results which have been published elsewhere or have been included in monographs.
The journal BiD does not have either article submission charges or article processing charges (APCs).
Format
BiD is published in digital format (HTML/PDF). Its ISSN is 1575-5886. There is no printed version.
Language
Catalan is the journal’s main language. BiD also accepts texts written in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. Every effort is made to ensure that the articles are published in more than one language.
Issue dates
The journal publishes two issues a year, in June and September.

Tribune
This section presents the opinions of leading figures in the sector and related areas on academic subjects of current interest.
Articles
This section includes texts on areas of archival science, library science, and documentation. Contributions are evaluated by external reviewers.
Experiences
This section presents descriptions of professional experiences. Contributions are evaluated by internal reviewers.
Norms and regulations
This section presents translations of regulations, guidelines, and so on, published by professional institutions and organizations.
Resources
This section presents web resources and computer programs with applications in library science. Section evaluated by internal reviewers.

Copyright
Texts published in BiD don’t have submission and procesing charges (APCs) and are subject to a Creative Commons licence (Attribution-Non-Commercial-No Derivative works) since volume 52. They may be consulted and distributed freely provided that the author and publisher are quoted (in accordance with the “Recommended citation” section in each of the articles). However, no derivative works (translation, change of format, etc.) may be made without the publisher’s permission. Therefore, it meets the definition of open access form the Budapest Open Access Initiative declaration. The journal allows the author(s) to hold the copyright without restrictions and to retain publishing rights without restrictions.
Declaration of privacy
The names and electronic addresses appearing in the journal shall be used solely for the aims stated by the journal and shall not be used for any other purpose.
