Mercado de trabajo en información y documentación y crisis económica en España: una aproximación a partir de las ofertas publicadas en IweTel entre 2008 y 2013

Nombre d'ofertes per any

Objective: This paper analyses the number, nature and conditions of job offers in the job listings published by the internet forum IweTel during the period January 2008-December 2013.

Methodology: The characteristics of job offers were analysed using statistical analysis. In many cases, the data had to be normalized before it could be used.

Results: Employment in information and documentation clearly fell during the six-year period studied, from 2008 when a total of 190 job offers were listed, to 2013 when that figure had dropped to 35. The precarity of the labour market was also noted, especially in the length of employment time offered. The organization that most frequently used the forum was typically a document service company with headquarters in Madrid, and the jobs most frequently advertised were for professionals in cataloguing. The IweTel forum was considered a valuable source of data because it has the largest mailing list for information professionals in Spain; its disadvantage was that IweTel is most frequently used by private ventures who are familiar with the sector, while other types of company advertise there less frequently or not at all.

Actores principales de la publicidad: conservar el patrimonio en centros de documentación y museos

Portal d'accés al PublidocNet

Objectives: to analyse the state of the art in advertising documentation centres and museums in Spain, comparing them with those in other countries.

Methodology: the research is based on a previous study of the principal authors that have written about advertising documentation centres. Several models of advertising museums are proposed, based on those that already exist in other countries, most notably the Musée de la Publicité in France.

Results: the information reported serves as a call to all archivists to open their doors to the advertising industry. While the State does not have the capacity to create a national advertising documentation centre and/or museum, private institutions and companies have taken this responsibility upon themselves and are building their own collections of advertising documents. The paper examines collections held in virtual and public museums in Spain, France, England, North America and Latin America. It outlines how university and research collections, mainly in the English-speaking world, operate and describes the working methods associated with archives held in Spanish private collections, as well as companies that commercialise documentary archives for advertising agencies.

Revistas españolas de arquitectura, ciencias de la construcción y urbanismo: visibilidad e internacionalidad

Figura 1. Distribució d'autors estrangers per zones geogràfiques

Objective: a study is presented of the degree of internationality —understood as presence in international databases and percentage number of foreign authors published in the journals as well as foreigners engaged in the scientific editorial teams— presented by Spanish journals of architecture, urbanism and building sciences.

Methodology: the study draws on the Spanish journals published in these three fields that appeared in 2010 in the journal directory of the bibliographic databases of CSIC, selected for its prestige among Spanish researchers, and which were published in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The next step involved confirming their presence or otherwise in international databases and indices of prestige, which employ their own criteria for selecting the journals they include. An analysis was then undertaken of the number of articles published with one or more foreign authors and the number of foreigners among the members of the journals’ scientific editorial teams.

Results: the results point to a very low level of visibility in international databases and indices of the Spanish journals published in the fields analysed, a low presence of foreigners among the authors and members of the scientific editorial teams, as well as a lack of quality in the presentation of the publications. It is concluded that Spanish journals of architecture, urbanism and building sciences need to improve their publishing habits before they can be considered

La gestión de las colecciones de fondo antiguo en las bibliotecas universitarias españolas: análisis de los textos normativos

Objective: to locate and study texts governing the management of the ancient collections housed in Spain’s university libraries so as to trace the qualities that characterize these collections from a management perspective.

Methodology: documents were collected and their content analysed, a cross comparison was undertaken between some of the texts and with the resulting data an overall study was made to summarize the state of the art.

Results: a total of 33 texts with information related to the management of ancient university collections were identified and analysed which enabled us to determine the current status of the regulation of access, consultation, technical processing, deposit, reproduction and loaning for exhibitions of the collections of ancient books in Spain’s university libraries.
