El Catálogo de la mujer de Florida Universitària, una herramienta para fomentar la igualdad

La propuesta que aquí se presenta es la creación del Catálogo de la mujer del CRAI de Florida Universitaria. Florida es una cooperativa educativa de trabajo asociado, que nació en los años 1970 en el País Valenciano, en el contexto de los movimientos de renovación pedagógica. Desde los inicios, los valores y principios que han guiado su tarea han sido la gestión democrática, el laicismo, la promoción del valenciano y la coeducación junto con el modelo empresarial de Mondragón. Estos valores han dado forma a la colección y a los fondos bibliográficos del CRAI-Biblioteca y del resto de bibliotecas que integran esta cooperativa educativa. Desde los primeros cursos de formación profesional en 1977–1978, la cooperativa adaptó su oferta de enseñanza, a las necesidades de su entorno, y a la viabilidad económica del proyecto, a principios de los años 1990 nace Florida Universitaria, como centro adscrito a las universidades de València y Politècnica de València, y, finalmente, el Centro de Idiomas fue una realidad en 1994. Florida se ubica en Catarroja, un pueblo de l’Horta Sud de la provincia de València, donde ofrece enseñanza secundaria, enseñanza de idiomas y enseñanza universitaria en tres espacios diferenciados. Estos centros han nacido en diferentes momentos de la historia de la cooperativa, a partir del núcleo original de enseñanza secundaria intentando cubrir las necesidades formativas de unos pueblos y comarcas alejados de la ciudad, y que recogían la demanda en alza del sector industrial de esta comarca, a partir del núcleo original de enseñanza secundaria.

La Comisión Depuradora de Bibliotecas del Distrito Universitario de Zaragoza durante la Guerra Civil (1936–1939)

Objetivo: analizar el significado y la transcendencia de la Comisión Depuradora de Bibliotecas del Distrito Universitario de Zaragoza durante la Guerra Civil (1936–1939), el contexto que impulsó su nacimiento, la procedencia de sus integrantes y su repercusión sobre los servicios ordinarios de la Biblioteca de la Universidad de Zaragoza.

Metodología: análisis de fuentes bibliográficas, hemerográficas y documentales vinculadas al tema.

Resultados: comprensión del significado, alcance y contenidos de la Comisión de Zaragoza.

Presencia del cómic en las bibliotecas universitarias españolas

Objective. The presence of the graphic novel in Spain’s university libraries deserves to be studied in greater detail. This article reports on catalogue searches used to examine how this kind of book is entering the holdings of these libraries.

Methodology. The catalogue of the Spanish university libraries network REBIUN was used to systematically search graphic novel book titles from the Unicómic series. A further search was made to find academic studies on the graphic novel in the libraries of those universities associated with the Spanish university association CRUE. Finally, qualitative research was also conducted to examine the relationship between the graphic novel and Spanish universities and academic libraries.

Results. The graphic novel is entering university library collections in a variety of ways and has gained increasing presence in certain parts of the world, including the US. In Spain, however, the presence of graphic novels in library collections is still limited, as is the offering of official university degree studies on this genre. Many of the university libraries sampled did not have even one of the books from the series chosen, Unicómic, and none of them offered the whole series. Furthermore, the libraries did not share any standard technical procedure for dealing with this kind of book in their collections.

Innovación orientada al usuario

Se exponen las actuaciones de carácter innovador implantadas por la Biblioteca de la Facultad de Biología de la Universidad de Salamanca como resultado de un análisis de las necesidades de los usuarios del centro, el establecimiento de objetivos preferentes y la selección de las herramientas precisas para su consecución. Como resultado del análisis se crearon nuevos servicios, que abarcan la redistribución de la información generada por la universidad, la elaboración de nuevos documentos y actividades de divulgación científica, la producción de nuevos soportes para la docencia y el apoyo a la inserción laboral.

Fondo antiguo y repositorios universitarios en España

This paper uses an analysis of the repositories of Spanish universities to identify which institutions contain rare book and manuscript collections. The method used in this analysis involved examining each university on the basis of a list comprising eleven elements. A total of 60 universities were found to have repositories but only 28 (16.8 %) of these contained rare book and manuscript collections. In the light of these figures, which suggest that Spanish university repositories do not generally consider the preservation of rare books and manuscripts to be part of their institutional mission, the paper reflects upon why some Spanish university repositories do contain such collections.

Estudio sobre el uso de los libros electrónicos en las bibliotecas universitarias de Castilla y León

Objective: The aim of the study is to offer a diagnosis of the use of e-books in the university libraries of Castilla y León, i.e. to analyse the degree of incorporation of e-books in their collections and their level of penetration, in order to develop systems of dissemination and use and to plan future strategies.

Methodology: various surveys were conducted in order to compile information from a three-way perspective: that of those responsible for acquisition services, that of the librarians and that of the users of e-books in the university libraries.

Results: The information obtained shows how the procedures followed by the university libraries of Castilla y León are similar to those in other countries with greater experience in the use of e-books.

La gestión de los libros electrónicos en la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC

This article shows how e-books are managed in the Virtual Library (VL) at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). The VL places special emphasis on the acquisition of digital books to improve user access to resources and collections in a virtual university. The article first examines the environment in which e-books are acquired and used, explaining the various stages of acquisition that the library might be involved in and defining the internal circuits that facilitate the management and technical processes of these virtual documents. This is followed by a presentation of the range of options made available by the library to users wishing to access and consult the e-books and an explanation of the analysis of uses to which these documents are put. The article finishes by examining the conclusions drawn by the VL about the new context of e-books.

La gestión de las colecciones de fondo antiguo en las bibliotecas universitarias españolas: análisis de los textos normativos

Objective: to locate and study texts governing the management of the ancient collections housed in Spain’s university libraries so as to trace the qualities that characterize these collections from a management perspective.

Methodology: documents were collected and their content analysed, a cross comparison was undertaken between some of the texts and with the resulting data an overall study was made to summarize the state of the art.

Results: a total of 33 texts with information related to the management of ancient university collections were identified and analysed which enabled us to determine the current status of the regulation of access, consultation, technical processing, deposit, reproduction and loaning for exhibitions of the collections of ancient books in Spain’s university libraries.
