Dear colleagues and friends in the academic community,

For over ten years, we at the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media of the University of Barcelona and the Scientific Information and Communication Studies at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya have coedited the journal BiD: textos universitaris de biblioteconomia I documentació. In the editorial of issue 30, corresponding to June 2013, co-directors Mario Pérez-Montoro and Candela Ollé expressed to the readers of the journal that the project was the result of the efforts and resources of both universities with a view to improving, growing, becoming more competitive and ultimately making BiD an even more solid journal than it was before.

With a deep appreciation of our long and fruitful collaboration, and with the conviction that we have largely achieved what was at that point our common objective, we now must share with you a decision that we have reached by consensus. After a decade coediting BiD, we have decided to end our collaboration. This agreement was reached after reflecting with great care and consideration of a series of strategic and organizational factors. Those at the Scientific Information and Communication Studies at the UOC have decided to prioritize the dedication of their teams and resources to other activities that are equally important in achieving their mission and objectives.

We wish to stress that our collaboration has been extremely valuable to both universities and that it has borne witness to the commitment of our institutions to academic excellence and inter-university cooperation. By means of a vehicle as valued as a consolidated, well-known academic journal, we have been able to contribute decidedly to the advancement of knowledge in the areas of information and communication.

We also want to extend our thanks to the authors who have published the results of their research efforts in BiD, to the proofreaders who have dedicated their time and knowledge to guarantee the quality of articles, and to the academic and management teams of both universities, as well as to everyone who has worked on the servers to ensure the success of our collaboration for so long.

Although our joint work on the journal has reached its end, we are sure that both institutions will continue to collaborate on future projects in the context of our shared goals. The Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media of the University of Barcelona and Scientific Information and Communication Studies at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya will continue to maintain a close relationship and be a source of mutual inspiration.

For all this, from 2024 onwards, the journal BiD will continue to be published solely by the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media of the University of Barcelona, as it was from its founding in 1998 until fifteen years later in 2013.

Miquel Térmens and Jordi Sánchez-Navarro, BiD editors
